Can I sell on Baob'Arts?

Baob'Arts is a one-stop marketplace for handmade, vintage items and craft supplies. On Baob'Arts.com, you'll find a community of makers, small business owners, and buyers who share a passion for uncommon or rare products.

Before launching an Baob'Arts shop, make sure your products can be sold on Baob'Arts and that you are located in a location where selling through Baob'Arts Payments is available . Review our policies and Selling Fees section to make sure selling on Baob'Arts is right for you and your business.

What is a handmade item?

Handmade items are items designed and/or created by you, the seller. This includes items made entirely by hand, such as spun pottery or knitted scarves. These are also items such as enamel pins that you design and manufacture in conjunction with a production partner. This does not include items you purchased and resold, even if they were handcrafted by someone else. Handmade items must be created or designed by you.

What is a vintage item?

Vintage items must be at least 20 years old. Vintage items can include clothing, household items, electronics and more! However, if an item is less than 20 years old, it cannot be sold as a vintage item on Baob'Arts.

What are craft supplies?

Craft supplies on Baob'Arts are tools, ingredients, or materials whose primary purpose is to create an item or host a special occasion. Craft supplies can be handmade, commercial or vintage. Party items can also be sold in this category.

What products are prohibited on Baob'Arts?

Even if your products are handmade, vintage, or craft supplies, you may not be able to sell them on Baob'Arts if they fall into a prohibited category. Be sure to review and understand our policies before listing items for sale. Prohibited items include tobacco, drugs or drug paraphernalia, weapons, hazardous materials and others. Articles that use someone else's intellectual property , even if you designed or created the article, are not allowed.

You must also follow local laws in your area. There may be some things in your area that cannot be sold or shipped.

What if Baob'Arts Payments is not available in my country?

Currently, you can only open an Baob'Arts shop in a country where Baob'Arts Payments is available. At this time, Baob'Arts can only offer payment services in certain countries. We are working on adding more countries later.

Create your store

Before creating your shop, log in or create an Baob'Arts account . You'll use this account for your shop and to make purchases from other manufacturers on Baob'Arts. After creating your account, add your profile picture and biography to let others in the Baob'Arts community know who you are.

To create your Baob'Arts shop

To open an Baob'Arts shop, visit Baob'Arts.com/sell and select Get Started .
Select your store's language, country, and currency, then click Save & Continue .
Choose a name for your store, then click Save & Continue .

You need to complete the first step of opening your store on a desktop web browser. Once your shop is open, you can continue with the Selling on Baob'Arts app .

Do I need a commercial license to sell on Baob'Arts?

Baob'Arts does not require sellers to have a commercial license in order to sell on Baob'Arts.

However, when selling on Baob'Arts, you must follow the laws that apply to you as a small business selling online. If you have questions about the laws that apply to you, contact a qualified professional.

Setting store preferences

Select your store's language, country, currency, and time spent on your store:

Store language: The store language you choose is the default language you use to describe your items. You won't be able to change it later, but if you want to add translations for other languages, you will be able to add other languages ​​after opening your store.
Store Country: Make sure you select the correct country for your store.
Store Currency: Choose the currency you'll use to price your listings. Currency conversion fees may apply if your bank's currency is different from your store's currency .
Time spent: Indicate whether selling your products is your full-time job or a part-time job. This question is for informational purposes only and will not affect your store setup.

Choosing the name of your store

Pick a name that sticks well to your memory and reflects your style. Store names must meet the following requirements:

Must be between 4 and 20 characters
Does not contain spaces or special characters
Does not contain vulgar words
Must not have been previously used by an existing Baob'Arts member
Does not infringe on a trademark belonging to another individual

If the store name you specified is already in use, other names that are still available will be suggested. Your store name will be reserved for you until you open your store.

Add product sheets to your store . You do not have to add all your product sheets for the moment!

Set up your payment and billing details

To get paid on Baob'Arts, you need to connect your bank account to your Baob'Arts shop .

On the How you will be paid page:

Fill in your personal information.
At the bottom of the page, select the country your bank is located in under What country is your bank located in.
Enter your bank account details. You will also need to verify this information. Learn more .
Select Save and Continue .
Add a credit card or bank card. (Shops based in Germany, Austria or the Netherlands do not need to add a credit or debit card.)
Select Open your store . Congratulation ! Your Baob'Arts shop is now live on Baob'Arts.com. You can still add listings and make changes to your store.

You can add a prepaid card to your account if you already have a credit card or bank card. A non-reloadable prepaid card cannot be your only or primary payment card, but you can still pay your bill manually with a non-reloadable prepaid card.

For sellers in Madagascar

A small test deposit should appear in your account within 3-7 days. This is a courtesy to let you know that transfers are working properly. Once you see the transfer, no further action is required on your part.

For sellers outside Madagascar

If your bank account is located in a country other than the United States where Baob'Arts Payments is available , you will need to verify your bank account before you can receive funds from your sales for compliance purposes.

Within 3-5 business days of signing up for Baob'Arts Payments, Baob'Arts will send a small wire transfer, processed by our third-party payment partners, Adyen or WorldPay, to your bank account. You will need to enter the amount of the small transfer to your payment account to verify your bank account for compliance.

If you're setting up a new store, you'll receive a small transfer to your bank account after you open your store to the public. No transfers will be sent to your bank account while your store is in draft mode.

You'll receive emails from Baob'Arts reminding you to verify your bank account to continue getting paid.

To verify your bank account:

On Baob'Arts.com or in the Sell on Baob'Arts app , click Shop Manager .
Select Finances .
Click Payment Account .
Select Verify Account .
Indicate the amount of the small transfer received in your bank account.
Select Verify Account .

A Verify Account button is also present in the Store Manager under the Store Advisor section . This button is directly related to verifying your bank account.

If the Verify your account button in the pop-up window isn't active, wait to receive the small transfer to your bank account, then try verifying your bank account on Baob'Arts.

If you don't verify your bank account within 90 days of updating your bank details, your store will be suspended.

For sellers in Europe

Sellers in Europe must have a residential address registered with their Europeans bank. This address should be used for Baob'Arts Payments mode. We cannot accept a PO Box as a residential address.

You can update your address in Shop Manager.

Enable two-step verification

As a security measure, we ask that you set up two-step verification. When you log in from an unrecognized browser or device, we send you a verification code to enter before accessing your account. You can receive this verification code in the following ways:

An authenticator app on your Android or iOS device (recommended)
A message
A phonecall
